Forthcoming rehearsal plans
Online version of email sent to members on 21st March 2020
If you did not receive the email, please email newsletter@singhealthy.co.uk
or use our contact form to let us know and we’ll check our records.
We hope you are all safe, well and adapting to this unprecedented time. Thank you for your patience and the kind messages of support that have been coming into our inboxes. We cannot tell you how much it means to us.
We’ve spent the last few days trialling virtual meeting options for Sing Healthy, and we’re pleased to say that we have a number of different opportunities for you to sing and stay engaged and uplifted with one another.
Webex rehearsals – Monday (23rd) and Wednesday (25th) at 7.30pm
Next week, we will be holding a rehearsal for each choir via Webex. We will host the session and you can all join remotely. It will be different to a normal rehearsal, but we believe it will be a valuable, sociable experience. The software is free to use. Please download the application for computers here (https://www.webex.com/downloads.html/). If you are using a tablet or phone, please download the Webex Meetings App from the app store. Please download the app in advance. Any problems, let us know.

-
On Monday (Wokingham) we will look at two new pieces, Elgar – As Torrents in Summer, and Tallis – Why Fum’th in Fight. (Links to both files at the end of the email)
-
On Wednesday (Bracknell) we will look at the Elton John Medley.
Vodcasts – Monday (30th) and Wednesday (Apr 1st) released at 7.30pm
We will also be producing some vodcast (video podcast) content. These will be live sessions, where we play, sing and interact with a new song for you to learn. You can go back and watch these as many times as you like. Once we’ve all learnt the piece, there are several options we can try, including a ‘virtual’ choir performance, where you can record your part to a backing track, send it to us, and we create a performance by joining everyone’s recordings together! More info to follow next week.
During Easter, we would love to hear your thoughts on what you think works best, and what you would like to see us try. We’ll make a plan for the period beyond Easter once we’ve heard from you. Thanks for your engagement and
understanding during all of this – it’s going to be different, but we also think you’re going to have some fun.
Sing Healthy Documentary
In other exciting news… we have been contacted by a documentary filmmaker, who would like to make a film about Sing Healthy and the experience of our members during the Covid-19 pandemic. He found us via a Guardian article, and learnt of the postponement of our Faure concert. He is appealing to choir members who would like to be involved in the film, and plans to record the rescheduled performance with a full crew. If you would like to be involved, we will be holding a Webex call tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon at 17:00 to discuss the details. It will also be a great trial run for our Webex rehearsals next week!
Enter meeting code 624 583 178 and password SHC2020 to join in.
If you are interested in the documentary project, but can’t make it tomorrow afternoon, please reply to this email and we can put you in touch with the documentary filmmaker.
Many thanks for your attention, and we look forward to seeing you next week for rehearsals online!
Take care, sending virtual hugs,
Kieran and Louise
