Trustee Nominations May 2021
Ann Shaw
proposed Chair to Sing Healthy Choir
I would like to be considered as a Trustee in the role of Chair to the Sing Healthy Choirs
During my 10-year association with Sing Healthy Choirs I spent maybe 6 of those years as Choir Manager helping Dorian our Founder to manage the Choirs’ business. I have a substantial knowledge of past events and present challenges and successes. I believe that I can be a useful addition to the Trustees taking the Choirs forward to new ventures as a CIO.
As Chair I would work hard on your behalf to ensure the good governance of the CIO. I feel confident that, working with all the Trustees, Musical Directors and members of the operational teams to provide the leadership that the Choirs need to continue to be successful community choirs.
Mike Gale
proposed Treasurer or Wokingham Choir Trustee to Sing Healthy Choir
I would like to be considered as a Trustee in the role of Treasurer or to continue as the “Wokingham Choir” Trustee to the Sing Healthy Choirs.
I have been acting as an interim Trustee (notionally the “Wokingham Choir” Trustee) since the establishment of the Board of Trustees. Over that time I have learnt a considerable amount about the history of the choir and how it is run and contributed to it being given charity status. In particular I have become very familiar with the financial position and operation of the choir and feel confident that with the support of the members and other Trustees that I can become an effective Treasurer. I would be focused on ensuring that the financial health of Sing Healthy is sufficient to enable the members to enjoy being part of the choir through its rehearsal evenings and the staging of events.
Lynn Marshall
proposed Secretary to Sing Healthy Choir
I would like to be considered as a Trustee in the role of Secretary to the Sing Healthy Choirs
My name is Lynn Marshall. I joined the Sing Healthy Choir in 2013 when Dorian advertised for singers to work with him to perform Karl Jenkins’ “The Armed Man”. The choir was originally known as the Thames Valley Choir. Eight years later I am still a member of the choir having taken part in a wide range of concerts and experiences I sing in the Marvellous Mezzos section surrounded by a lovely group of talented and very helpful ladies.
I originally volunteered to be a trustee because I wanted to help a group of like minded people move the choirs forward and become a CIO. I cannot deny it, the last five months have been extremely hard work. But I think Sing Healthy is now in a much stronger position:- it has CIO status; has put in place a number of policies and working procedures; established an enthusiastic and energetic group of people who make up our operational group and last but by no means least established a core group of Trustees who work extremely well together. I am very pleased with the work the Trustees have undertaken and completed in the last five months and would welcome your support in being able to continue in the same role celebrating the achievements of our choirs and looking for new opportunities.
I look forward to working on your behalf to support Kieran and Louise to provide still more and better of what we love – singing!
May I add my thanks to all who are standing as trustees and particular thanks to the team who have helped to achieve our CIO status. I shall remain as Membership Secretary and am happy to be a co-opted trustee to continue to help and support the development and progression that Dorian had wanted. As a membership organisation where everyone has a part, Sing Healthy Choirs has a great foundation for the future. Exciting times ahead as we take on new challenges.
Good luck to all those standing for election tomorrow night. Thank you for all that you have done for the choir so far and all that you will do going forward. Is it sad for me to say that having been associated with the choir for such a long-time, it has been great to see it grow? These are exciting times and I wish the organisation all the best for the future. The power in our choirs comes not only from our voices, but from the dedication and effort put in by the many members and people behind the scenes.
