We have an important update for Wokingham choir regarding the Faure Requiem. Thank you for your patience as we’ve continued to look for a mutual date with Berkshire Maestros Camerata. We have learnt that current Covid restrictions are making rehearsals this term almost unworkable for all of the Berkshire Maestros ensembles – Camerata have just had to pull out an event that was due to talk place next week. Beyond Easter, things look almost as challenging with breaks for the exams and summer holidays.
We have concluded that would be best for us to proceed with our Faure Requiem concert this term using organ accompaniment (with Euchar, who accompanied us at Christmas). It’s not a decision we’ve taken lightly, but we believe we will still have an excellent concert with choir and organ at Wokingham Baptist Church. The date for the concert will be Saturday April 2nd.
Camerata are keen to collaborate with us again when it becomes more practical, so we are in discussion about future possible concerts.
Secondly, a quick note to mention that Tom will be covering for me this Wednesday (9th). I’ll be back the following week (14th & 16th Feb) and then we will have our half term break for both choirs on the 21st & 23rd February.
Lastly, our Singing in the Rain scores for Bracknell choir have finally arrived! Hooray!
