We hope you have had a great summer. We look forward to starting back rehearsals on Monday September 9th at St Cecilia’s for Wokingham Choir and Wednesday September 11th at Birch Hill for Bracknell Choir. Please see details below for music to bring to rehearsals for the first half of term. We will add a few more festive pieces after half term.
Our half term break will be October 28th/30th, and our final week of rehearsals will be December 16th/18th. We are waiting on venue confirmation for our joint Christmas concert – for various reasons this has proved tricky this year, so please bear with us and we hope to have the date confirmed next week. In the meantime please save the date for a Christmas sing-out at The Lexicon which will be 1-3pm on Sunday December 8th.
Many thanks for your attention,
Louise
Wokingham Choir
For our Christmas concert, alongside other shorter pieces, we will prepare the 12-minute long ‘Fantasia on Christmas Carols’ by Vaughan Williams, which journeys through the English folk carol tunes “The truth sent from above”, “Come all you worthy gentlemen” and the Sussex Carol, amongst other famous Christmas melodies. This will be accompanied by solo cello. We also have short pieces by living British composers Judith Weir and Tamsin Jones – the latter a fun carol arrangement which I’ve heard described as a “medieval rave”!
