We are delighted to announce that our ‘Serenata’ concert on July 8th raised a fantastic £1,110.
£833 will go to our nominated charity ARC, with the remainder going to Ascot Brass’s nominated charity Macmillan.
You can listen to a recording of all of the pieces in the concert here: Serenata Recording
A huge thank you and well done to all involved!
Looking ahead to next term and beyond, please see some details below for our planned events. More info will follow on music for the start of term (September 4th for Wokingham Choir and September 6th for Bracknell Choir). We will commence the term with repertoire for Hambleden Church (Bracknell) and the Shakespeare Concert (Wokingham) before rehearsing towards our joint Christmas concert.
We hope you have a great summer break, and look forward to seeing you in September.

Bracknell Choir: Hambleden Church – Sunday September 24th
As previously announced, we have been invited to sing at Hambleden Church near Henley (RG9 6RS) on the afternoon of Sunday 24th September. Hambleden Church Teas run every Sunday through the summer raising funds for the church, some Sundays including live music, and September 24th will be their final Tea of the year. We will perform short sets of pieces (mainly those we have recently performed on July 16th) either outdoors or inside the church (weather dependent) with keyboard accompaniment. We have been offered tea and cake in return!
Both Choirs: Christmas Concert – Saturday December 9th
Please save the date for our joint Christmas concert! More details to follow.
Further ahead:
We have confirmed another joint concert for Wokingham Choir and Berkshire Maestros’ Camerata (now known as Berkshire Youth String Ensemble) around a Shakespeare theme. This will take place in late April 2024 (date TBC), coinciding with Shakespeare’s birthday. The concert will include settings in English by Shakespeare and contemporaries, including the multi-movement work In Windsor Forest by Ralph Vaughan Williams (recording and info here) and Shakespeare Songs, a piece by me, both accompanied by the string orchestra.
We plan to hold a concert for Bracknell Choir later in the summer term (June 2024) around a James Bond theme, including some of the best James Bond theme songs and other related pieces.
