Bracknell choir – repertoire:

For upcoming rehearsals, please bring along the four Christmas pieces we have already rehearsed this term, along with, if you have them:

Candlelight – John Rutter

Hark the Herald (the version we sang from last year)

We will also provide scores for two other new pieces.

(Wokingham choir – please keep bringing your Mozart, Beethoven, Skempton and Tippett scores!)

Next sing-out event:

We have our first Christmas sing-out of the year on November 15th, 6-8pm at Hillier’s Garden Centre (Windlesham GU20 6LQ) with two 30-minute performance slots. Brenda and David will lead, singing from song sheets. Please sign-up at rehearsal if you can  make it!

Christingle Song update

(for those who attended either workshop!):

My Christingle song is now up online, available to download (for free!), along with a video featuring footage from the second workshop. Please have a look at the link below:

I have also linked the audio recording from the second workshop (which the Children’s Society also have and I’m hoping will also be aired at some point!).

I would like to say a huge thank you again to those who took part in the workshops as it was such a benefit to have your input for this piece.

For those performing Stairway on November 20th:

Firstly, thank you for signing up! The Stairway event page can be found here: https://tickets.ram.ac.uk/sales/venues/royal-academy-of-music/main-academy-stairwell

If you haven’t already done so, please could you bring your £5 along to rehearsal.

Scores:

Please find the final score here:

I will provide hard copies at rehearsals. For those who attended either workshop, based on your very useful feedback, you will see I have adapted the score to (hopefully!) make the instructions more succinct, using Cardew’s ‘Paragraph 7’ as a model.
  • Please first read the page titled ‘instructions’ that will explain how to follow the scores.
  • For the time being please could all singers follow the ‘CLOUD’ score only (I have included the ‘SKY’ score too just for reference).
  • Don’t worry if it doesn’t completely make sense at this stage! I will spend time going through all the instructions during rehearsals, and we will have lots of time to practice.

Rehearsals:

  • Our main rehearsal will be at Birch Hill School, Bracknell on Sunday November 18th, 2-4pm.
  • Prior to this, Kieran and I will be holding short practice sessions ahead of normal Monday and Wednesday rehearsals, if you can make them. These will be: Mon 29th Oct at 7.15pm, Weds 31st Oct at 7pm, Mon 12th Nov at 7.15pm and Weds 14th Nov at 7pm.

On the day (November 20th):

  • Alison has arranged two departure points for the coach:
    • South Hill Park – 8.30am
    • Coppid Beech Hotel – 8.50am
    • The coach will depart from Royal Academy at 5pm (so should be back before 7pm).
  • For the performances we will wear all black, just like our formal concert dress, but without scarves or ties.
  • Our performances will take place at 2.30pm and 4pm, with a rehearsal 11am – 1pm.
  • I will provide more detail about the schedule in advance of the day
