Congratulations to the Wokingham choir on a brilliant concert on Saturday evening. As I missed singing in this one I felt I had to let you know just how good you were.

Normally standing at the back and singing with the basses you cannot hear or appreciate the overall sound so this is the first time I have really been able to hear the choir at a concert from the front as it should be heard.

The choir were really tight together, all entry and exit points together and didn’t even notice any ssssssnakes and the overall sound was exceptional.

As a bass and with our brothers the tenors I often wonder if our singing comes through clearly and is always heard as we are smaller in numbers and at the back, but the balance was excellent. Clearly heard when either section were leading and always heard on all songs as the foundation of the choir.

Sopranos and Altos, just perfect, the movement and contrast between PP and FF was so smooth it gave real movement and expression to all the songs.

We rightly celebrate we are a community choir and all comers are welcome without audition but I have to say listening from near the back row with my daughter on Saturday night it sounded like a professional choir, it was that good.

Congratulations to Kieran and Louise for making this happen. How they do it I’m really not sure, the difference between when we first start a piece and the concert performance is huge and its all down to them. So well done and thanks to both of you.

I’ve often thought our ticket prices are too high as I’m sure its mainly family and friends that come to the concert to support us. However having listened to the excellent combination of an international Harpist and the choir my opinions have changed. The tickets were worth every penny of their cost and we just need to get more of Joe Public to come along because they will come back again the standard was so high.

I’m planning to come back to Wokingham after the summer break and following her attendance at the concert my daughter is threatening to come and join as well. we shall see 😊 😊

Have a great summer and see you all in September
