iStock_000007060199XSmall Our male contingent is a bit thin on the ground tonight but we do have a new tenor (hurrah!) and just one gallant bass. You are doing sterling work guys; let’s hope a few more join you next week.

Before we start Dorian gives out a few notices:

  • A ‘Print Buddies’ list is doing the rounds. Sign up if you can either offer to print out songs for other choir members or if you’re having printing problems and would like someone to print music out for you.
  • Our next event is the Age Concern singalong at Reading Concert Hall on Saturday 2nd October 7.30-9.30pm. You can either sing on the stage with Dorian or sit in the audience. Please let Dorian know if you are able to take part. This is a free event.
  • Our own concert will take place in the Methodist Church on Sunday 12th December; don’t forget to pop that date in your diary.
  • We are looking for a ‘Sing-Out Coordinator’. Gamely Jenny volunteers for this role.

As we prepare to do our warm up Dorian mentions that a midi file of vocal warm up exercises will soon be added to the website. For a change we sing the Everly Brothers’ ‘Bye bye love’ which gets us in the mood.

We concentrate on ‘Both Sides Now’ this evening. After a slightly shaky start we work through each part and eventually find it is all coming together nicely. It is a great song with lovely words and melodies.

For next week please print out a copy of ‘Bridge over Troubled Water’ and we’ll also be revisiting ‘Shine’. All those who would like a CD of all the new training files were asked to add their name to the list. There will be a charge of around £4 per CD.

daisy's dream After tea and Julie’s fundraising book sale in aid of Daisy’s Dream (well done Julie) we finish with ‘Delilah’, ‘All I have to do is Dream’ and the washing-up ladies choice ‘Rhythm of Life’. And that’s it for another week folks!
