Information for Performers – 9th June Concert – Reading Minster

COSTUME: Please arrive already in performance costume of FORMAL choir attire (all black ensemble with plain black shoes – red choir scarf & woggle (ladies); black choir shirt & red tie (gents). There are NO changing facilities on site.
 
TIMINGS:
  • 3pm Choir performers to arrive at Minster (entrance by main West door). We will have 30 mins for placement/positioning, and then commence rehearsal at 3.30pm.
  • 5pm We will be joined by the band and have a combined 15 min rehearsal.
  • 5.15pm There will be a brief break from 5.15pm.
  • 5.50pm Choirs to be in position.
  • 6pm Concert starts.
  • 7.30pm concert finishes. All to leave by 8pm latest.
SEATING PLAN: We be utilising a mix of chairs, pews and choir stalls – with everyone coming forward to perform and returning to their seats in between pieces.  Please be patient whilst we practice this on the day to perfect a smooth and efficient transition ☺
 
PERSONAL BELONGINGS: Please bring minimal personal belongings and be mindful of where these are during rehearsal. At 5.15pm we will go en masse to a separate office building where coats/bags can be stored securely for the duration of the performance.
 
MUSIC: We are not using red folders; all performers will need proper printed booklets of each of the scores. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THESE PLEASE BORROW FROM A NON-SINGING FELLOW CHOIR MEMBER OR LET ALISON KNOW ASAP (alison.strickland@singhealthy.co.uk)
 
RUNNING ORDER: Steal Away (Tippett); Hungarian Folk Songs (Seiber); English Folk Songs (Vaughan Williams); Seventeen Come Sunday (Grainger)
 
PERSONAL FOOD / REFRESHMENTS: Please ensure you have had a decent lunch ahead of arrival at Minster; bring water/flask or a snack with you. There will be no backstage refreshment facilities and a very limited amount of break time. 
 
INTERVAL REFRESHMENTS: If you have signed up to bring cakes & bakes for the interval please bring these with you at 3pm and thank you for your contribution. You are very welcome to join friends and family at the interval but please be mindful of time/queuing – allowing audience to have priority service for refreshments.
 
TICKETS: Available online until 11am on Saturday; available on the door from 3pm
 
GETTING THERE: No parking at Minster. Nearest public carpark is St Mary Butts or Holybrook. Reading station is a short walk away for those coming by public transport.
 
ON GOING CHOIR SESSIONS: We will be meeting at St Crispin’s again on Monday 11th June – Please bring your Tippett scores and Beethoven – Elegischer Gesang, if you have them!
Weekly sessions will continue through to 16th July inclusive with a combined end of term social event on 18th July at the Open Learning Centre Bracknell.
